'Transformer: White Waratah Warrior, Walking the Sacred Path' outfit by Jenny Kee and Masahiro Nakagawa, 2005-2006

Recycled Jenny Kee clothes and Linda Jackson fabric, cotton, silk, organdie, muslin wood, in collaboration with Masahiro Nakagawa, made by Jenny Kee, Chloe Simcox, Paula Martin and Greg Somerville, Australia

Purchased 2006

The garment is an intimately crafted tribute to Kee's late partner Danton Hughes, and was created from T-shirts that held special memories for Kee of Hughes. Written on the garment is the Buddhist purification mantra, the Mantra of Vajrasattva.
I wrote the mantra out by hand and it was stitched exactly as I wrote it onto each petal. This arose from my wish to purify and transform the loss of Danton, to create a divine tribute to his memory.
