Cultural Connections

Linda Jackson was profoundly affected by her first visit to central Australia in 1980. The desert environment and wide blue sky were translated into her designs as appliqués, prints, flower-form dresses and handpainted landscapes that wrapped around the body.

Seeing her spirituality as earthed in nature, Jackson became involved in art projects with Indigenous women in remote communities, including the Utopia Women's Batik Group in the Northern Territory.
