Olympic Games

Jenny Kee was invited by SOCOG, the organising committee for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, to design costumes for the opening ceremony.

She collaborated with creative consultant Jan Thornley, theatrical costume designer Paula Martin, textile artist Greg Somerville and costumer Chloe Simcox to create these costumes representing Africa and the Americas, symbolised by the black and red Olympic rings. Also part of the team were volunteers from the Ceremonies Costume Workshop, led by Paula Ryan and costume coordinator Sue Osmond. The headpieces were made by Paula Martin, Chloe Simcox and milliner Rosie Boylan.
