'Peace' outfit by Jenny Kee, 1983-1988

A visit to New York in 1982 opened a new design phase for Kee, who was inspired by vibrant subway graffiti and the striking mud-dyed Malian textiles she'd purchased from Ford Wheeler's Craft Caravan shop in Soho. This led to graphic black-and-white prints and knits, including this outfit, which features formal geometric patterns and symbols.
